Well, it's been a lengthy break from blogging and I am ashamed to admit I don't remember any of the fun or exciting things I've done in the mean time. Terrible memories need to blog religiously or else they won't know where the days have taken them.
I know that I have been a reading fool lately; I busted out the ol' kindle and brushed the dust off of it. Let me give you a little history about the kindle. It was a gift two years ago from my momma at Christmastime. She thought it the ultimate gift for my sister and I because of our deep love of the written word. My sister took to hers like white on rice, while I on the other hand, resisted the technological advances of today's age, and stuck with books on paper. I briefly picked it up and maybe read a book but then turned around and sat the blasted thing down and lost it. Every once in a while Mom would ask where it was or why she hadn't seen it, but all along she knew I didn't have the sparkles in my eyes over it like the twin did.
Now, almost two years later, I am a kindle book fool. Instead of carrying around three paperback books in my bag, I tote the kindle. (Not to say that I don't carry one paperback because I forget to charge the silly invention and then don't have a book to pass the time). Always be prepared and by prepared I mean have reading materials handy. I was joking with my friend about even reading in bars. It isn't the most reading friendly of places but I shuck convention and do my own thing. I am presenting myself to be a snob, but I really do socialize with people around me and then when the conversation drifts off, I just pick up my book. I am an emotional hermit at times. I can socialize with the best of them, but every once in a while I feel like I am stretching my skin and would really just like to revert back into my brain and share it with the characters from my books. I just finished a wonderful book and was sad that my time with those characters had ended but love it at the same time because that is how you know you have a great read!
I hear that we are to get the best/worse Arctic winter storm since the 90's early next week and I, for one, am excited. I know that the grown up part of me should be groaning and moaning but the child side is saying, "Woohoo!! Bring on the snow!" The storm of '93 was so memorable, even the memory challenged like myself remember it! My sisters and I made a snowman so big that we couldn't roll it out of the middle of the street where it had gotten stuck. Good thing we lived on a dead end street that never got the city's attention to be scraped anyway.
I will try my best to be dedicated to blogging, but I am not witty 24-7 and I feel that if you write to those that read it, you should at least be a little witty. OHHHHHHHH, I just remembered the reason for blogging today! I made my very own homemade sushi the other day ago and it was as pretty as could be! I was so very proud! Although my family wasn't too enthusiastic, I chuck that up to them not having the refined taste buds needed for such a delicacy ;)
